Botanics of Gemer - excursions into the world of plants

Experience a unique natural history excursion on the Muránská plain and discover the wealth of plants around Tisovec! Come with us on two exceptional field excursions as part of the Botanics of Gemer project, which will take you to picturesque corners of the region with rich natural diversity.

Together we will set out:

🌿 UNDER THE CASTLE, Saturday, August 9, 2025

  • Meeting of participants: 8:30 in front of the Tisovec City Hall, where parking is also available
  • The route leads from the town of Tisovec through the Podhrad locality to the edge of the Hlboký jarok nature reserve. The return route will lead through the picturesque Rejkovo valley back to Tisovec.
  • Route length: approx. 7 km
  • Duration: approximately 4 hours
  • Elevation: approx. 100 m
  • Difficulty: suitable for more able children

🌿 ON THE GOAT'S BACK, Saturday, September 6, 2025

  • Meeting point: 8:30 in the parking lot at the bus stop Tisovec, Slávča

  • The trail begins at the beginning of the Slávča Valley, on the edge of Tisovec. From the parking lot, we will continue along the paved road to the end of the valley and then begin to climb to the summit meadow of Kozí chrbát.
  • Route length: approx. 9.5 km
  • Duration: approximately 4 hours
  • Elevation: approx. 560 m
  • Difficulty: medium

🌱 What you will experience
The botanically focused excursion will be led by Judita Kochjarová , an expert on the flora of the Muránska Planina. During the trip, you will learn interesting facts about local plants, their occurrence and significance. Suitable for all nature lovers, students, families and curious people who want to learn directly in the field.
