Nature trail Come with us to see the ground squirrels

Description

The nature trail, leading from Tisovec through the meadows below Hradová to the ground squirrel in the Podhrad area, will take you through the history of the creation of meadows and the importance of human activity in their preservation. At the same time, you will learn about the rich history of sheep farming, which was an important source of livelihood for the people of Tisovec, and the importance of maintaining this traditional form of livelihood in the present day will be emphasized. Interesting facts from the life of the meadow squirrel, once a plentiful inhabitant of meadows and pastures, now rare and forgotten, await you.

The nature trail consists of four stops and forms a circuit, starting at the information point next to the building of the secondary vocational school in Tisovec. The route runs parallel to the blue-marked tourist trail and, for a short section, with the Hradová route. The path takes you southwest under the foot of Hradová, through the Obadovo očko site, to the ground squirrel nest in Podhrad. At this resting place, you can relax, observe ground squirrels and other animals in their natural environment, and admire the beauty of the surrounding nature.

After stopping at the squirrel farm, you can continue your journey, return to the crossroads and then head to the Rejkovo location, where you will find the last information panel dedicated to sheep farming near the cooperative complex. The nature trail route continues without further stops to the Tisovec pond and then back to the town, to the starting point.
